Radiesse in Seoul: a guide for international patients

· Clair Plastic Surgery

Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) injectable. For an international visitor, the useful starting point is an individual consultation about the exact product, treatment area, alternatives and follow-up arrangements. A short appointment does not remove the need to understand risks or plan care after leaving Seoul.

What is Radiesse, and what does the product name tell you?

CaHA is different from hyaluronic acid (HA) and poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). The manufacturer describes Radiesse as a dermal filler and biostimulator. Product variants and intended uses differ, so a brand name alone does not identify a suitable treatment for a particular person. Ask which formulation is proposed and request the relevant product information. Read the manufacturer's product and safety overview.

Clair's Korean Radiesse page lists a CaHA treatment under its volume menu. This guide uses that listing to identify the service being discussed; it does not establish current stock, a particular preparation or an individual treatment plan. US product information is cited for background and should not be read as confirmation of Korean regulatory indications.

Who should discuss suitability with a clinician?

A consultation should start with the concern you want assessed, rather than a preselected syringe quantity. Ask whether the concern relates to contour, folds, skin quality or another cause, and whether a different intervention or no treatment is a reasonable option. Your plan should explain the proposed area and the limitations as well as the expected benefit.

The manufacturer lists important exclusions and precautions, including severe allergies, bleeding disorders, product-component allergy and active skin infection. Radiesse (+) contains lidocaine, so sensitivity to local anaesthetics matters. Discuss pregnancy or breastfeeding and previous reactions. The manufacturer's safety information does not establish safety in the lips or around the eyes. These are reasons to seek assessment, not a remote eligibility checklist.

What to prepare before your appointment

Send the clinic your main questions and preferred consultation language before travel. Bring a clear list of medicines, supplements, allergies and previous facial procedures, with product names and dates where available. Mention recent dental treatment or planned procedures and ask whether they affect timing. Do not stop prescribed medicines without advice from the clinician who manages them.

Ask who will perform treatment and how they explain consent, follow-up and urgent concerns in a language you understand. You can also ask how the clinic verifies the product and how to obtain a treatment record. These questions help clarify the service before any decision to proceed; an online enquiry is not an examination.

What happens during treatment?

The clinician examines the proposed area and discusses the plan, alternatives and consent. If treatment proceeds, the skin is prepared and an injectable is administered with an appropriate needle or cannula. Product choice, placement and any comfort measures are clinical decisions. The pictures in this article explain assessment and planning; they are not an injection-point map, technique tutorial or forecast of your appearance.

Before leaving, ask what has been used, which areas were treated and what instructions apply to that treatment. Clarify when photographs or a remote conversation can help follow-up and when an in-person examination is necessary. Ask whether a review could change the plan rather than assuming that another session is automatically needed.

Risks and symptoms that need prompt attention

Common injection-site reactions can include bruising, swelling, redness, tenderness, pain or itching. Infection, inflammatory reactions and lumps can also occur. Some filler complications can appear later, so keep your treatment record after the visible swelling settles. This is not a complete list. The FDA explains general filler risks and limitations.

Unintended injection into a blood vessel can cause serious harm. Seek immediate medical assessment for unusual or severe pain, white, grey or blue skin changes, visual disturbance or stroke-like symptoms. Do not wait for an email reply if a symptom seems urgent. Explain the product, treatment date and area to the medical team. Ask the treating clinician beforehand how urgent complications are managed.

Recovery, travel and follow-up after returning home

Ask for written aftercare that matches your exact treatment. Confirm what to avoid, which symptoms to monitor, when a review is expected and how to reach the clinic. Do not copy a massage routine from a different injectable or assume that a general website instruction fits your plan. A return to routine activity is not a promise that swelling has resolved.

The CDC's medical-tourism guidance recommends arranging continuity of care and understanding how complications will be addressed. Discuss travel timing before booking inflexible flights, keep an English-language treatment record and identify care near home. This guide cannot provide a universal safe flight date or substitute for medical travel clearance.

Price: ask for a complete written quote

A current individual Radiesse price is not verified for this guide. Request a quote in Korean won that identifies the exact product, proposed scope, consultation or anaesthesia charges, applicable tax and follow-up arrangements. Confirm any eligibility, package or promotional terms in writing. A price attached to another product, another country or an expired event is not your quote.

For travel planning, ask what happens if the examination changes the proposed plan, if treatment is deferred, or if an extra review is needed. Keep accommodation, transport and potential follow-up expenses in your budget. The clinic should confirm current availability directly.

Questions and answers

Is Radiesse the same as an HA filler?

No. Radiesse contains CaHA; HA fillers have a different material. Ask the clinician how that difference affects suitability, management and alternatives.

Can I combine treatment with sightseeing immediately?

Ask for advice for your exact plan and keep time for follow-up. An appointment described as brief does not establish that every activity or travel schedule is suitable.

Can an online photo confirm my treatment area and total cost?

A photo may help organise an enquiry, but the final plan and quote require clinical assessment. Ask which details remain provisional before you travel.
